The sun rose towards noon as the young smilodon dozed in the shade of the large tree sitting upon the raised mound overlooking the flowing grasslands. In the distance roamed a herd of mammoth and in their company grazed pronghorn who kept an alert watch for those like the smilodon who might intend to prey upon them.
